Vico Equense

Vico Equense is a town of 20,048 inhabitants in the province of Naples. The city houses the Mineralogical Museum and the Antiquarian. The only example of Gothic church in the Sorrento Peninsula, the Cathedral of the Annunciation occupies a special position since it is located overlooking the sea. From this location are easy to reach the sea (marine Aequa and Vico) that the mountain (Mount Faito), the latter also by a cable car located in nearby Castellammare di Stabia. The town bases its economy on tourism and on the dairy industry. Typical products are the mozzarella and Provolone del Monaco. The municipality has 13 hamlets located on the hills bordering the town center.

The town is accessible by train from Naples by the Circumvesuviana (Naples-Sorrento), in the car on the A03 Napoli-Salerno instead simply take the exit Castellammare di Stabia.

Monte Faito

Mount Faito, 1131 meters high, is one of the peaks of Lattari chain, mountain group Preappennino fields that make up the backbone of the Sorrento Peninsula, the saddle of Cava de 'Tirreni the southern end of Punta Campanella.

Consisting mainly limestone rocks on the slope of the Gulf of Salerno is characterized by very steep walls of the sea. Its name comes from the dialect word "beech" because the territory is rich in beech as well as oak and chestnut trees.

On top is a sports complex with tennis courts, basketball / volleyball court and swimming pool, reached by cable car from Castellammare di Stabia in 8 minutes by car from the side of Vico Equense.

In October there is the traditional Chestnut.
